While I was willing to accept that I couldn't get the Ak'ab pet because I just don't have that much time to spend in game (and chose RL holiday stuffs over game anyway), this development makes me happy because I really wanted the little guy. I hope they experiment with contest types in the future. I like the idea of special event contests, but I don't think this one worked that well.

The "End of Days" event and contest ended today. We hope you enjoyed saving the world and thank everyone who participated.

In the announcement of the contest, we mentioned that the top 1000 players will receive the unique title "Hero of Ages" and the top 100 players in addition receive the exclusive "Hatchling" pet.

During the course of the contest however we noticed that some players were able to exploit the mechanics and reach impossible amounts of points which in terms altered the rankings to unrealistic results. This of course is not what we had in mind with this contest so we today decided to change the way we give out rewards for the event:

Everyone who participated in the "End of Days" event receives both the title as well as the pet today. You can get your rewards over the claim window.

I think this is a very nice resolution to the problem of the event. I am happy they chose this path.

I have to admit I wasn't expecting eiother the title or the pet, due to not having checked the forum before logging back in yesterday, so it was a nice surprise. I spent a few days solidly grinding (legitimiately) through the period, but on my templar toon wound up ranking 4th in my cabal (those above me were 2.5K - 17k). I checked the global list, and there were peopel with 120k+ that's a crazy amount.
I know a few folks who sacored highly were legitimitely annoyed, but given the widespread use of mechanics to boost their numbers I'm not surprised they went this route.
Ultimately I think it worked out best for all that took part.

So, people had to claim in that one day?

Hm, not seeing that I can claim it. Maybe its because I wasn't able to do the group activity part. The couple groups I got into failed at them. :/

If you scored any points for the End of Days event, you should be able to claim it. I wouldn't think it would just be that day, but note that the pet is in your UI claimable items window and not the claim section of the Item Store. People can check the Chronicle to see if they have any End of Days event points. Opening even one mayan remain should have gotten you on there. Makes me wish I'd bothered to send some to my lowest level alt so he could have the pet. At least I can still send him some leftover mayan remains for him to hopefully grab the hat while the vendor is still available.

(Since you do have points, Vix, if you don't find the pet in your claimable items window then I'd suggest a petition.)

Ah, thats my problem. I was looking in the store as thats the only place it uses the word Claim. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
