Local Radio Station Pet Peeve...

Postby Innari » Sun Mar 05, 2006 7:19 am

About 6 months ago, we got a new local radio station. Well, not new, but redesigned. They had a genre switch. They went from playing 50s-60s to playing Classic Rock. The good classics, Floyd, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Hendrix, etc. 102 The Rock.

I was never more excited about a local station before. We have your requisite Pop and Country stations...but up until now, we had to beg on the Pop station to play a good Classic Rock song. On Saturday nights, the Pop station even has a Retro Radio evening. All the cheesy eighties songs. (Nothing wrong with them, just saying.)

So for 6 months, this station has been blowing me away and making me feel good with the classic rock I love. Plus, it's made me remember the songs I had forgotten were so dang good.

So that brings us to the last couple days...

Yesterday I get in my car and turn it on. Creed is on the air. I flip the station thinking I must have accidentally ended up on the pop station. No no, I was on 102 The Rock! I blink and promptly frown. Do not get me wrong, I don't mind Creed. But they are not classic rock. They never will be classic rock. I blow it off, because Steve Miller Band comes on after. I'm all for that.

Today though...Green Day is on the air...Boulevard of Broken Dreams. ....again, so very far from Classic Rock...

They claim to be the home of Classic Rock from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Not the pop 90s.

*sigh*

Looks like I will just start really toting my mp3 play around with music on it.

Argh.
