Im a Trekie are you a Trekie too??

Postby Jugsmalone » Tue Dec 20, 2005 2:21 am

Well I have to admit I love Star Trek I never missed an episode and I started collecting all my star trek toys long ago..My kids were more into Star Wars..and well thier toys are long since gone But I must admit mine are still around and in perfect condition I love them and I do still play with them evey now and again when the little kid in me forces its way out ..Well this past weekend when my grandson was over he caught me playing with a few of my trekie toys ..I love my grandkids very much but tho he pleaded with me to give him my enterprise with the words from kirk still in working order I just couldnt part with it .. perhaps one day I did give up my 3 super man dolls tho still inthe box and never played with.. I do hope he takes care of them he promised me he would but well he is only 12 and I have had those dolls for a very long time ..So are thier any other big kids out thier that stillplay with thier trekie toys and enjoy it as I do??

If I had any I would. Careful though, those are collector's items. I'm not saying you should sell them.. but they're practically irreplaceable now days. Have your grandson watch some of the episodes with ya if he hasn't seen any and explain to him what's going on when he has questions. Star Trek's a great way to get perspective on the human race in some ways.. I'd reccommend the Next Gen episodes if you do that, I'm sure you'll know why.. hehe. Smallville season 1 might be a good X-mas gift too, lots of adventure and moral values wrapped up into a great series.

I still love Kirk and Spock. Never warmed up to any of the other, newer characters with possibly the exception of Mr Data (let's just say I identify with his problems with humor and communication).

I couldn't call myself a Trekkie or a Trekker, though. I've known plenty and they make my Star Wars geekiness look tame and normal by comparison in their obsession with all things Star Trek.

/grin

To everyone their own and in a measure that gives them most joy.

I was into Trek enough in my time. Loved Next Gen lots, though I'm not obsessed and had enough for awhile. Much more of a SW fan anyway. Master Replicas has some nice stuff for either. I have a Next Gen phaser replica

Yes Nex that is a great site and I visit it often and yes I know many of the toys are very valueablt now its amazeing what some people will pay Im a fan but not crazy enough to shell out a bundle on items I purchased all of my things when they were new and in the toy stores hell some were only a 1$ back than I did recently sell all my paper back book collection I had three mikl crates filled with paper backs( heheh )and you would have thought they were gold the way the buyer handled them and he came from washington state to Maryland to get them from me too ..His freind told him about the collection of books I had at a yard sale and well they found me on the net and made me an offer I couldnt refuse shiping would have been out rageous and since he had freinds here he paid me a vist and purchased the books that were actually just gathering lots of dust after many readings...but they were in excellent shape and in oreder but just like my records they were no longer read or used so no reason to keep them.. I have far too much junk and I just cant keep it all Its time to downsize gigles
