think it's too late to book stuff?

i've never been to a con before, and all the talk has gotten me curious. our lease is up in a couple weeks, so we're just packing our things in the truck and hitting road. i was hoping to convince stiofain (and the truck) that we could make it to georgia, no problem.

I'm pretty sure you should still be able to get D*Con memberships for this year... I think people might have been getting them on the day last year, but I wouldn't swear to it.

The main three convention hotels might have been booked out by now, but you don't have to stay in one of them, and you can find other (and possibly cheaper) accomadation nearby... http://www.dragoncon.org lists some of the overflow hotels.

Marriott, can finally say with certainty that I will be going. Will have all the money I need, and already got the days off.

Nice. Was just asking around last night if you would be returning, and there was some confusion, which has now been settled.

...soon...

We're staying at... um... whichever one we were in last time! The Hyatt, I think?

(It definitely wasn't the Hilton, who I was on the phone panicking at a few days beforehand because they couldn't find my booking on the totally unreasonable grounds that it wasn't actually there I was booked in!)

In answer to the former page question. Yes you can buy a day pass when you get there, a couple of my AO friends that live in Atlanta did that last year. All three of the con hotels are sold out, but sometimes if you call them, they wind up having a room. I know last year some people stayed in hotels that were "close" by (don't know if stumbling distance).

I'll be in the Hilton again this year.

I'll be at the Hilton too, and that's where the Funcom booth will be this year. (Because the Hilton is sort of the "gaming con" section this year, they're getting a LOT more involved since they have new management and didn't like being left out of the '06 one).

I am at the Hilton as well I asked to be booked into the Hotel with the gaming booths, and I booked way back in Jan this year to be sure to get a room. Ohhh Tarryk I have drained the juice from the cherries and have them soaking in Vodka. Just for you hon, also have packed a few hundred slim jims some sunflower seeds peanuts cookies and some candies and additional snacks and yummies, I may not have room for clothes but Ill just cover up in a large very large sheet, that will work!!!! Can not wait to see you all there.

See, that was why I was sure we were in the Hilton last year - to the point of ringing them up and getting upset when they had no record of our reservation - because when it turned out the Marriott was full, I thought that we'd opted for the place with the 24 hour computer games.

Instead we had opted for the place with the 24 hour coffee bar...

You can see why it was a tough choice!

(And yes, we are in the Hyatt, I remember now!)
