Alien vs Marine: THe sonar bleeps like crazy and then goes silent. THe marine looks all around, then looks up and points his rifle. a split second later his torso is ripped and pulled down into the ground.

Predator vs Marine: A creepy clacking laugh is heard as the marines head falls to the ground half a mile away.

Predator vs Marine: A marine runs like crazy as a wirring sound tails behind him, marines head fall to the ground.

Predalien vs Marine: *Evil grin*

Pred's suck, I'll grant you that. The only tough Pred's to kill are plasma pistol whores, and that doesn't take skill bein one, so I don't respect the frags they get...
And yes, pulse rifles rule, it's probbaly the mopst versitile weapon. Tho I prefer people who use smartguns... they're SO easy to run around and kill!
But you just have to face it, a person who know's how to play Alien is not a pleasant foe... The bugger's built to give paranoia as it is, and when the person is playin with ya... well... hehe, let's just say you won't wanna be home alone on a dark and windy night!

Tho' I will admit, of all the foe's there are, I hate marines the most... so damn hard to sneak in on... when they're in the open, in the heat of battle... easy pickings, but if he diggs in... nothing get's in undetected...
So I usually ignore him and kill every one else untill he comes out of his little hole...

Bro, a marine who knows what he's doing can take anything out and do not get paranoia,

First rule of the marine, shoot anything taht moves, even when u are not sure of if it moved or not just shoot god dammit

Hmm! If you sit in the middle of the open as a marine, your easy picking for a predator. sniping or discs are lethal.

And if you huddle in some dark corner, there are up to 4-5 angles a alien can nail ya from.

Only a dumb alien is seen.
If a marine or pred see a alien, their blood is allready leaving their body.

Predators is a nice mix of aliens and marines, distance abilities and sneaking abilities.

So. hey Mr. marine. you a corporate marine or colonial marine or a merc marine?

Oh btw! Without it's guns the marine is almost defenseless, unlike a predator or alien.
Treat your weapons well marine, a mistreated weapon tend to give up when you least want it to. And always carry enough ammo and armor.
Better to be slow and lethal than fast and vulnerable.

Anyway, I'm more into the sory stuff than fragfests.

And to get back on topic *hauls the entire thread back ina loop and ties a knot*

CAVE is a cool albeit not knew concept, I hope affordable consumer
variations become available.

The cheapest head mounted display with 3d/stereo vision, headtracking, plus hand held wireless (or with wire) free floating/hand controller.
Would cost around um... 3500 dollars for a 800x600 capable head gear.
Expensive yeah but not insane.
(PS! That's a full immersion display, i.e you don't see the outside world.)
The headtracking is usually setup as the mouselook or mouse device on games. So instead of using mouselook to look up, to the sides, down etc or target you just move your head. (6 directions ability I think it was)
Depending on the games capabilities, the targeting may be tied to the hand controls tracking instead, thus you get the ability to look in a direction not related to the one you shoot/target.

Which was something that geeked me out when I tried one of those floor VR setups with a ring around so you don't fall etc.

I walked into a room, a door ahead opened, a enemy came out,
I heard a sound aparently behind me as well.
I turned my head back, saw a 2nd enemy.
I pointed/targeted the enemy with my gun, then looked ahead at the first enemy and continued walking towards it.
I pulled the trigger, bLAM, then braught the gun infornt of me and blasted that guy, at which time I heard a thump behind me,
then the enemy infront of me drop a sec later as well :)

Naturally something like CAVE interrest me as well, esp since it has potejntial of letting multiple persons be "with" you and see what you see.
It also got awsome scientific and educational capabilities.

I still like the head displays tough, and some day I'll have it lol.
(maybe when 1024x768 is common instead of 800x600. (anything lower res should be avoided).

You can get real high qual gear but that costs insane amounts lol.
Better to get a floor VR gear instead then :P

Affordable? heh "The complete system, including support and on-site installation, retails for less than $50,000 US. "

Still some ways to go for affordable imo :P
(even tough they state it to be affordable)
For 50 grand I think you'll get some pretty awsome head gear.
