My eventfull day..

Postby Tristalyn » Fri Oct 28, 2005 7:29 am

My computer was fine when I left for work last night. My husband watched movies on it while I was gone and when I got home this morning... it wouldn't connect to the internet. Not even detect I had any sort of connection what-so-ever. So I give my husband a tilted head, arched eyebrow "WTF did you do to my computer you sorry son of a B*..." look. (Ok so I get a little bit hostile when it comes to my computer). He's swearing up and down he didn't touch it all the while I'm just giving him a constant glare and wishing he'd just go away.

So I start working on the problem, trying things I know to do and using his computer to look up issues I may not have thought about. Nothing. Zilch, nada. So I backup all my important stuff (nudie pics, devil music, etc) and leave him a note to reformat my drive when he gets home and head off to bed.

He quick reformats. Doesn't fix it. He reinstalls windows. Doesn't fix it. So we decide to try a full reformat losing all my information (other than what I backed up) and assume that'd resolve the issue. Did it? Why hell no, of course not you stupid piece of SH** computer.. (Ok my computer isn't a piece of crap, it actually kicks your ass but god damnit I hate it when they act up).

I sit down, unsure what the hell to do next and then it hits me.. WTF I'm an idiot. His computer works fine... cable modem is fine.. it has to be the connection to my computer. So.. my network card is integrated into my MB so I go find my old computer and rip out the network card and my husband installs it for me.

God I'm a dumbass... I lost all my crap and didn't even need to. The one thing I should have checked first I didn't even THINK to check and went through all that trouble (and now hours and hours later getting everything back)

sigh

At least I made sure my slave drive was unplugged this time and I kept all my music!

Gah! That sucks Trist. :( At least you figured it out and it wasn't a catastrophic situation, though.

Stupid computer keeps shitting down folders for some strange reason. Also shuts down the taskbar and anything else thats open ;-)

Means me searching ofr a certain file rather than going into the folder and just selecting it lol.

Well... I thought all was well but apparently it's not..

I rebooted this morning and my computer decided it didn't want to post. My HD wouldn't load in my husbands computer, it wouldnt' detect it was even there, nothing.. So we've spent all night going back and forth. We finally got it detected, got it formatted (AGAIN!) and loaded windows... went to reboot. Can't detect windows...

Ok you stupid piece of crap.

We get my slave copied over into my hubbys computer (so not to lose those nudie pics and devil music again!) and try reformatting the slave drive and getting windows put on it... It wouldn't detect the cd or the startup disk.. so we had to find a dif file to get it to load and begin installing... and from the looks of it, that install seems to be frozen.

I really really hate my computer at the moment..

On top of it all, I'm not feeling well and am gonna try to get to the clinic in the morning. I already called in for tomorrow night. Not to mention the OTHER issue I've had.. My mother in laws phone is in my name. She gets her own bill and things at her house, just the accounts in my name. I got a letter in the mail saying her service was interupted due to lack of payment and if it wasn't paid by the 26th, my services would be interupted too. Well yesterday morning that's exactly what happened. My phone was dead. I called to find out how much she owed (from my cell phone that doesn't get signal at my house) and she owed over $250. My bill was just $23!!! Right now it seems to be back on, but ugh. This has just been a really shitty past few days :(

Aye! When it rains, it pours. I'm sorry you're having such a tough time of it. Maybe someone here can offer you some techie advice. Of course that only gets your computer going. Won't help with the rest of it. :(

*muffinyhuggles* Hope things get better for you!
