Live (lived?) in Chicago? Question for ya...

I'm heading to Chicago for a long weekend soon and am looking for some advice on the Morton Grove area. I'm driving in with my gf to meet some family that's coming from a totally different direction, and we want a hotel close to the trains that has a place for us to park the cars, AND that doesn't rape us on the cost of our rooms.
We're looking at the Best Western in Morton Grove because it's cheap, 2 blocks from the train, has parking, etc... I just want to make sure it's not a shithole, which is pretty hard to do just from the web.
If any of you know the place or the area, any advice would be greatly appreciated

I've been to Chicago a zillion times, but never stayed or went to this area so it's new to me...
