Reflecting back...

8)
On the plains of hesitation lie the blackened bones of countless millions who at the dawn of victory sat down to rest.....and resting died.....

I was that which others did not want to be. I went where others feared to go, and did what others failed to do. I asked nothing from those who gave nothing and reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal loneliness should I fail. I have seen the face of terror, felt the stinging cold of fear, and enjoyed the sweet taste of a moments love. But most of all I have lived times others would say were best forgotten. At least some day I will be able to say, I was proud of what I was and always will be............... a United States Marine Scout/Sniper

And I for one can't say thank you enough for what you've risked overseas. Come home safely Ungoliant.

Amen. You know I don't usually do this, mostly because I try and keep my RL away from my 'Land of Make-Believe'. Ungoliant, however, sparked something inside. A reminder if you will of some e-mails I've been sending and receiving from my cousin Mugsy.

I am sharing this subject, sorry if it interferes, but I think it should be posted in this since it's related.

This e-mail was sent to me after my cousin returned home from Iraq.

Hello Prima,

I got back a week ago. Although I'm very happy to be back, its a bittersweet experience because I still have my Marines in combat missions in Iraq. I felt terrible leaving without them. I'm counting the days off until they return back (between Sept thru Oct).

Its very strange being back. I'm getting used to the simple things again, such as flushing toilets, showering when I want, having ice with my drinks, driving, air conditioning, sleeping calmly, taking my time eating, not feeling threatened upon hearing, smelling, or seeing suspicious noise or strangers.

I finally ventured out in public without Judy (I was not comfortable being alone with many strangers). I now venture out with Jasmine (Its my next small step). We went to the movies (matinee, of course to avoid the big crowds) and saw "Freaky Friday".

All in all, I'm adapting well. Just strange to be back home and do as I please. Just validates to me that Freedom is priceless and worth defending.

God Bless you. Thank you for the email.

Love, Your Cuz (*****). Send my warmest regards to your folks.

indeed... and what some government officials and media crews need to understand, is that even those who may not support us being in iraq can and do support our troops. we are all wishing you back safely, hoping everyone can make it back home as soon as possible to be with loved ones, esp. as we enter into the holday season. it's a tough job and somebody has to do it, you deserve great respect for being one of those who did.

see ya online... :)
