Eminiem has always been a person who is intelligent about his rhymes... like everyone else in the music buissness he makes his bs songs, but he follows it up with those songs that actually make sense mean something. A few ones that you should also listen to (but aren't as dramatic, but have the same impact in other social/policital areas)

Stan
Without Me
Superman (to a point mind you)

even some of the songs he does with D12 are intelligent, and even some of d12 songs are greatly put together. Not every single song though. But I have to say that Em taking a stance like this is not expected (he did one for White America with the same people whom did Mosh), just refreshing in the Hip-Hop world.

Oddly the first time I took the time I took the time to listen and pay attention to his lyrics was when Fixerben posted a couple lyric parodies on the AO forums (think the song was "Fixerman"). Its still a good song, but nothing edgy about it, nothing that I've come to expect. "Mosh" on the other hand is the antithesis of "cop out" or "sell out". I understand the reasons for not chosing it as the lead single, but its a far better song in my opinion.

Ok, deep thoughts for a Friday night. Especially when I'm not feeling well.

You know Valli, I know a ton of people whom when they first heard Eminiem felt the same way. First song I heard was "My name is..." and thought it was just a funny rock/rap song because they were playing it non-stop on the rock station here. I thought he was like the next Limp Bizkit but a ton funnier.

As for Just Loose It being a copout - actually its more of a rip on the music industry (check out the video to see what I mean, ontop of that the song is about a sample of a few songs. The things mentioned in the song of course talk about Michael Jackson, Pee Wee Herman, MC Hammer, Martin Lawerence, and even himself). Yes I read deeply into hip-hop, particularly good hip-hop. Even horrible Hip-hop.

Even if you took a song like Just Loose It at face value, every artist has that "cop out" song, just a song that's a son and means absolutely nothing (if you want to take it at a pure face value). AC/DC - TnT, Metallica - Fuel, Darude - Sandstorm, Linkin Park - Hi Voltage (or the Reanimation version H! Vtg3), P.O.D. - Boom (a.k.a. Click Click Boom), Andrew W. K - Party

So I have to judge the artist by what they do that's against the grain - that isn't just a cop out song. Not many people do what Eminem does - in any genre. Even before Mosh there were songs like White America, Stan, Criminal, The Real Slim Shady (which I finally just got that song).

"Mosh" can be found on Eminem's Encore, due on Nov. 16 through Shady/Interscope records. And to deter bootlegging, the set will also feature 25 glossy photo inserts, full album lyrics, a free ringtone and other incentives.

See, Eminem go the right idea. provide extras for added value.
And for once, the word piracy isn't used. They use the term bootlegging wich is the correct term.
Maybe there is still hope for the world!

I absolutely agree with you. I guess my disappointment in the song (and let me re-iterate that I still like the song, so even saying "disappointment" seems a tad harsh) is that I've come to expect him to take more chances. However, Mosh takes all the risks and then some, so that makes up for it.

Of course the good part is that the g-rated radio station that I've condemned my son to listen to as long as we're living in this (my parent's) house will still play "Just Lose It" and so he still gets to hear Eminem, which keeps him moderately happy.

I am so not the guy who woulda ever found myself listening to most any Hip Hop, even the white brand. I first sorta knew of Eminem when the used the "My name is" song for a NFL ad on TV shortly after it's success on the charts. Very soon after that a guy I worked with played the album for me a few times at the store we worked at after closing. Listening to it made me a fan, so I bought it and have loved lots of his stuff ever since. I essentially consider him a genius in his field. Heck (no matter how phony some of their picks tend to be at times) he won an Oscar for his stuff. Though "Just Lose It" does not seem to represent his best work, at least it's catchy and keeps his trend of not caring who he pisses off. And if you caught him on SNL the other night you saw his own repeated attempt to spur the younguns to get out and vote. I have hope.

back to the topic, I dont like eminem and i dont like his genre.
and because i m too lazy to dig through the lyrics for tanslation to find out if he has actually made some good texts, i ll never like him( or that genre, except some nice german songs of that genre, dont need to translate them:))

but the video itself, without the listening to the lyrics, is realy good. That is a style i would say i like. And if the lyrics to this video are the same as the msg of the pictures, guessing from some fracments i noticed they are.:
this is indeed a good song.
