Music fans worry that the music industry will raise prices on its sanctioned sites once people switch over. Some reports said Apple was under pressure to raise the price of downloadable songs from 99 cents to as much as $2.49 each. Jobs felt it necessary to address the topic at the ITunes anniversary.
But the lawsuits against alleged file swappers will "go on as long as necessary," RIAA's Lamy says. "Right now, the online music marketplace is overwhelmed by pirated and illegal music, and the legitimate services are put in a position of competing against free. Stolen copies of the same products are offered for free. We're never going to eliminate piracy, but we need to bring it down to a level where the legitimate services can compete."
From reading this article, I have begun to have a lower view, or even recognize anything that the RIAA does, it proves that like most things and people in America, as long as it's helping themselves, they like it, and then try to take advantage of it, try to milk it for all that it is worth and try to run it into the ground. The RIAA is soo adamant on making profits, they think a song is worth more than 99 cents... problem is that I think we are still getting highway robbed. What makes a son woth that much? I mean is it enough to have all of these artists live the life of fame and fortune. Not that some of them don't work hard touring, and not that touring is a hard thing, but I would love for these people to go through a 9-5, to have a boss whom really doesn't understand what they are doing, to be pushed and shoved into several different directions and facets. To me made into something, and to not really be understood by that employer.
The RIAA doesn't understand it's listeners, much like most big corporations don't. Opposed to writing a song about not wanting to write a single... how about this korn... create a scholorship for 4 years for those inner city youths whom want to go to private high school, hey Metallica, instead of suing these p2p students whom have no money for napster, why don't you give some of your money to families whom may not be able to pay the bills on time, or something. Instead of walking down the red carpet Jay-Z... you know what... grab a poor white family from Montana, take them in your limo, and walk them down with you, give them your seats.
Oh and being you like music soo much, visit a performing arts school so that those whom want to be musicians can be like one.
Soo many musicians have forgotten about their roots, they talk about it all of the time, but being the ignorant assholes they really don't understand what they are doing. They are only propogating the money wheel that is called the RIAA, whom doesn't understand anything but the color of green sprayed over dead presidents.
