AAAK! Its ev0l!

I just decided to upgrade my computer, since it was being a "poopiehead", mostly with music (my old processor didnt like playing winamp and AO at the same time)... Well, I bought a very nice processor (P4 3.06GHz), and a bunch of other stuff (1GB memory, etc)... Then I find out that my wonderful computer manufacturer disabled the better bus controller, making my nice and pretty processor run at 2.4GHz (which is still an improvement, tho)... It pisses me off... but anyway.....

I will be gone for a few days, as I move all my stuff onto my new HD, and get everything set back up. I cant wait to use my new sound card, tho... :)

Dont do anything I would do!

PS> Anyone know of a good motherboard that can run a 533MHz front-side bus?

With such a CPU you should get a mobo running @ 800MHz.
Try checking out motherboards running the latest chipsets from Intel. I think they are called 865 and 875.

i would get an 800 MHz mobo, but I originally didnt want to buy a new mobo... (new mobo means new PSU, probably new case) and now that the chip is installed, unless its defective (which it isnt), its non-refundable..

Everything I could find said the mobo I had was 400/533.. but Dell decided to make it 400 only.

Also, I already have invested so much into it, and I dont see a need for a "bleeding edge" system. I just want something that works well, and with few problems.

Any way I look at it, its going to be a HECK of alot better than what I was running before (1.6 P4, 512Mb 2100 DDR SDRAM, ti4200 GeForce4) all running on an Intel 845 board.

Once I get my new HD loaded up, Im going to try things out in AO, and see how much better it runs.
