DDR Addiction

Postby Tacz » Fri Jun 20, 2003 7:07 am

Well, as many of us know, Dance Dance Revolution is ONE HELL of an addicting game. Me and my friend Basil learned this yesterday after about 4 hours and I'm estimating $50 at the local arcade. I came home, took a shower (cuz God knew I needed it) and had this idea (inspired by an experience Basil and I had after leaving the arcade). Enjoy.

What's it mean if your feet involuntarily do the motions?

Ahhh yes DDR...the secret plan of the Japanese to conquer america while we are moving our feet to the beat.

I've only done it once or twice, granted I sucked, but yeah, it's a lotta fun.

Tacz, you know with a PS2, big tv, and buying these pads, you can have a home-edition DDR, right?

OMG how funny.
DDR is not a new game, but I recently (like last week) became utterly addicted to it, and we are discussing it as a news item on Outzone.

I ordered the PC version (its only 10 bucks at outpost.com). and the dance pad, and a Playstation->USB adapter.

It works great.

That page wrote:Local Insane Arcade Junkie
Difficulty: Hard
Freestyle Moves: Dropping to knees, jumping over safety rail, furious hopping.

The Local Insane Arcade junkie is not a hard creature to spot. Always adorned with some combination of a Hawaiian Shirt and sunglasses, despite temperature or light, the local insane arcade junkie is not just amazing at Dance Dance, but at every game. If you decide to take him on at Tekken, Street Fighter, or Super Fireman Racer Bang (Japanese audiences only), the results will be exactly the same: You fucking lose. He is a master of the electronic arts, and packs more quarters than a game of Football. Although football games only have four quarters, you should still figure out the point of that last statement, which has escaped me at the moment. He isn't in the game for the money, or for the fame. He plays it because he has to. He plays the Dance Dance just because it's there. The best technique for taking down this opponent is to simply point out the newer, fancier Sega game in the corner. He will divert his precious resources to watching that, and victory will be ripe for the taking.

...dammit, not only does that sorta describe me, but I also wear nothing but Hawaiian shirts...seriously. At all times. Yes, even in churches on more than one occassion.

Dont even try to get me to have the home version. I have ALL of them! the arcade is just... just... You have to try it yourself to understand. There is nothing like dong a 5-6 foot with your friend doing a 2-3 foot next to you and you're drinking coke while dancing and a small crowd is gathring round the machine to watch your uberness. THATS why we play at the arcade. Its the atmosphere.

You know you're addicted to DDR when:

You think you can dance after playing the game, thus go to the nearest disco, club, dance hall (or what ever your generation calls it) and begin to dance following your favorite DDR moves.

Everytime you see an arrow you attept to put your foot in a quick motion in the quadrant that it may be pointing into.

When tired you give your hand a workout, and play DDR with a controler (yes you can do it, I've tired... erm.. nvm)
