Jin-Roh

Postby Tir_McDohl » Wed Jan 08, 2003 7:35 pm

Following the advice of(I THINK) Nurgle, I saw the anime Jin-Roh. Three words.

Good fscking movie.

Great setting, great storyline, great characters, great plot twists, great armor, great action, INCREDIBLE animation, and great presentation. Realisitic in every way, even in ambience.

Example: During a conversation, the wind picks up, and a woman has to remove a piece of hair from her face. The way it's done is completely natural and isn't overdone at all. It's a little tiny detail, but every person who watches it will notice it.

Any anime where the Japanese people actually LOOK Japanese is pretty rare. Not only do they look Japanese, with real hairstyles and such, but you can still tell one character from another. Usually hairstyle/color is what makes characters readily distinguishable from one another. This is NOT the case here.

I've heard a lot of people say they'd watch anime, but don't like the style...if this is the case with you, here's your movie. Even the mouths are believable.

Also, I have to say that Jin-Roh now has my favorite armored suit ever. Sorry, OT. This is who you should have ripped off, rather than the Imperial Stormtroopers.

Jin-Roh is some of the best anime I have ever seen.

Stunning.

I brought it up in a anime list, and made a big push for it ;)

Some of my other favorite anime though...

M.D. Geist ( 80s Anime classic )
Vampire Hunter D ( 80s Anime classic )
Akira
Lodoss Wars
Gundam MS 08th Team
Gundam Wing ( yeah I liked it so what? )
Gundam: War in the Pocket ( tragic and great story )
Ruroini Kenshin ( sp?)
Ranma 1/2
Now and Then:Here and Now ( can rent this at blockbuster )
Beserk ( blockbuster / new release faovrite )
Ghost in a Shell ( original manga was better though )

oh so many more I can't recall at the moment... probably don't wanna lol

Ah damn, I thought I suggested that, lol, in that post that was seemingly deletated  .

Yeah, its a excellent anime, i think a lot better than Akira and Princess Mononoke, and holds the new bar for anime movies.

The subtileness, very interesting artwork, use of neo-japan after ww2, all stunning ideals.

By the way, if you want a CS model of the Project Gear (jin-roh)Troops, I can find the link.

I would really suggest Robotech and Hellsing as well. Hellsing I took on a risky suggestion from another forum, and its become one of my favorite animes.

Edit: The Image!

And the CS Model!

Ive also heard of a Jin-roh Live action movie, but not sure if it will come state-side.

Also, I got a little confused at the end, But I wouldnt want to spoil it, but why does Kazuki Fuse do what he did at the near-exact end?

Edit: The music, I just started listening to some on winamp, its the most beautiful job ive heard in a long time, with mindless techno, rock, or older music used in other animes, it shines upon the rest.

I apologize for any deleted messages :(
But moving a system in full production is not a very good plan content wise. I prioritized minimum downtown (which in turn caused some data loss I see now).

Well shit. Knew I'd get that wrong, heh. It WAS you...couldn't reference back to it because the evil admin did a time warp on us. :P (kidding, none of us mind that much)

I'll try to recap here what I said in that thread, as this is probably more on-topic anyway...though, it does mean I can't use my image for thread hijacks.

Now, on to the geekiness.

Hellsing is damned cool. Kinda weird, mostly cool, kinda funny. Only boring aspect to it is that the main character is freaking invincible. Best moment: When me and a friend saw the two main characters get their new weapons. Arucard got his, and my friend said "Dude, that's a big gun." Ceres got hers, and I said "No, THAT is a huge gun." If you see it, you'll know what I mean.

Oh, and the ones I mentioned...

.hack//sign is an anime all about an mmorpg. Yes, an mmorpg. The main character becomes unable to log out, and is trapped inside the game itself. Interesting story, neat characters(especially since each character is actually two-in-one), but a dragged out plot. The series could have been done in half the episodes.

Excel Saga is just...wtf. Totally wtf. I've never watched something and screamed "WHAT THE FSCK!?" so many times in my life. Nothing resembling a real plotline, character development is a joke, and its humor is completely insane even by Japanese standards. Example: The main character adopts a small dog...but for unsavory reasons. If she ever gets hungry, the dog is going to be her emergency food supply.

Ive heard good things about Hack, is it like AO, or what? Since its in a mmorpg.

Nurgle might have suggested it before in a post, since Im still a newbie at the forums ere, I just provided the CS pic.

Sort of sad Hellsings mainstream now, when they do go mainstream, it gets a little crappy seeing everyone like it, and I got links for the other models, including metal armor and blue, if you wanted a full team of em.

Too keep in the idea of Jin-roh In cs, they suggested (A jin-roh site) to use a Ol DOD Machine gun model for the SAW, like what the guys were equipted with.

Its Angelfire, so popup adds are run amock.

for more Jin-roh CS skins.

It's as far from AO as possible. More like a generic EQ-ish game. Complete with newbies and pkers.

One of the big draws for me was that each character was two people, and you don't see their other side.

I don't mind things going mainstream so much as I hate idiots becoming fans of my favorite series.
