The trailer's been officially released:

I'm seriously looking forward to this flick next year.

They are reprising the role of The Joker and I was initially very skeptical of Heath Ledger taking it on. Jack Nicholson played The Joker in the original Batman and...well...Jack's just hard to follow. However, looking at the preview, I'm very intrigued and The Joker actually looks frightening. His laugh is pretty horrific too.

Of course, Christian Bale returns as the lead (as we all know).

Rachel Dawes is no longer being played by Katie Holmes, but rather Maggie Gyllenhaal. I'll be interested to see how well she does.

I'm definitely looking forward to it, and hope it keeps the same atmosphere as Batman Begins had.

I'm looking forward to it as well. By the looks of the trailer I would say its keeping with the atmosphere of the first movie. I'm SO happy that Christian Bale agreed to come back for it. He makes such a great Batman.

My understanding is he signed a 3 movie contract. So should be another after TDK too. He's an all out phenominal actor.

Holmes was probably the only act that really annoyed me in Batman Begins, so any change is a positive one in my opinion, and Maggie's a really good actress. I'm thrilled that Gary Oldman is still signed on, because that man IS Gordon, and I never would've guessed it until I saw him in the part. It's kind of cool that they've got Aaron Eckhart to play Harvey Dent, too, he's a fantastic actor.

I was skeptical about Heath Ledger as Joker at first, too. But the more I think about it the more it seems to make sense. They're obviously casting everyone to look younger in the new Batmans (not really casting younger, just with a younger more energetic appearance than the Burton release). I know Heath can do action, I'm hoping to see a good real "fight scene" between Joker and Batman, something that Burton's couldn't pull off with the not-exactly-action-stars Keaton & Nicholson.

One really good point for me: Cillian Murphy's on the cast list! WOOHOO, hoping to see more Scarecrow. That dude is such a perfect creepazoid, I hope they don't kill him off right away. :)

Oh my god yes is he creepy. He's the one that weirds me out so much when I watch it.

And yes, Tk, I agree Maggie's a great actress :) I hope she does well.
