Very very nice. :)
I was skeptical at first; many engines that run off of water have already been privately invented, but I like how this guy was trying to cure cancer and discovered a high powered fuel. :D

I can see the world in 1000 years; baren and dry from to much burning water. ;)

I'm guessing the oil companies have already given that guy a price to buy him out just so they can take the invention and lock it away forever. That's really bad for business right there....just you guys wait and see! Something that amazing doesn't just vanish without a little help and a lot of money. I garuntee we'll never see anything from this. I frigg'n hate oil companies. Seriously....where's the profit in salt water? Just like the electric car Saturn put out....smashed and gone.

I honestly believe that there is a cure for many things out there and its not being release because the treatments use in attempting to cure (experiment) cost so much that it would not be profitable to them to release the cure. The Drug companies have charged outrageous amount for drugs that millions of people need to control there sugar blood pressure and cholesterol. There is so much greed in the world today that curing us of deadly illness is just not an option to most people. I agree with Meenie we will never see this in our life time, the cost of gas is making to many people rich.

It's a nice thought but Stirling engines (of which the little engine they show in the video is one) have many disadvantages for use in automobiles. They are generally far more heavy and expensive to construct. Mainly, they generate a LOT of heat compared to the standard gasoline internal combustion engine, which leads to lots of weight and space needed for the large radiators.

There's a reason we're still using gasoline internal combustion engines in cars these days and why we're having such trouble finding a good replacement that has nothing to do with evil oil or automotive companies. It suits the application very well.

It's a flame man...you can use it in a combustible engine to drive a car. He was just using the sterling engine as an example.....

I have to side with the conspiracy theorists on this one. I've seen several practical applications of technologies that threaten oil disappear. The original design of the Deisel engine burned 100% corn oil not a vegtable oil, oil mixture. The Deisel engine was designed to eliminate the need for oil on a farm. The farmer would be able to grow and press his own corn oil.
The oil companies claimed it would be underpowered and needed the oil to give it the oompf. But Oil is only actually needed if you need speed which a Tractor is best avoiding in any case.

Well, Diesel has it's flaws as well. A Diesel engine has problems starting in cold weather and, before the starting of these oil uses as fuel, was more efficient then a gasoline engine but creates so much more pollution. Stirling engines are heavy as stated and the application when used for something like a car is not very particle. And the big fuss over fuel cells is very interesting as the primary fuel source is hard to contain and somewhat rare. A typical fuel cell that uses pure hydrogen, this being the hard fuel to contain, and oxygen is 80% efficient, but as stated hydrogen is hard to contain and not a very abundant element on Earth. To make a fuel cell much more particle it would require the use of a methanol converter which drops the efficiency of a fuel cell down to about 25-30% and the converter would create the same pollution as a modern internal combustion engine running on gasoline. And taking in account electric power you can't just consider the power source for the car, same with a methanol converter as it isn't in the car, but the fuel used to generate the electricity. A pure electric car will most likely get it's power, in the sense as the battery and subsequent recharging, from the plants we get our energy from now, these being primarily coal plants as the United States has a very rich abundance of coal.

But do not fear, there are starting to be more advances in the "Green" energy sources. Windmills, from the last thing I read a year ago, have started collaborating with fuel cells or splitting water into it's component elements to create a battery that can be later used to generate power. It really will just take time and advances to root our gasoline as the primary fuel source, it's all about making the technology particle for mass consumption.

Interesting stuff, but hardly a solution to world's energy problems. There simply isn't enough salt water. Still, good thing there are people trying to create new energy sources. Generally speaking, eve the most optimistic researches show that the peak in oil production will be in 2020's.

Dude....there's about a million times more salt water then there is oil on this planet.....oceans?

Not to mention, unlike oil, it's a renewable resource.

I rather like how the fuel aspect of this over shadows the fight on cancer part. :)

Chris Rock summed it up perfectly in his skit. Paraphasing: "They don't want to cure things, they want to make things that you need to live with it"

Sure there's plenty of water in the oceans, but the thing does not actually burn the saltwater, although that is what was mostly said in the video. The innovation - as said in the video - "separates hydrogen and oxygen from saltwater", and those are the things burning. So basically he found a new way of creating hydrogen.

Unfortunately, hydrogen as a fuel is not yet efficient or convenient enough to replace oil. The amount of water needed to create it is quite large.
