Tobe honest, my first thought when reading it was "Eh, people do stupid crap in the name of religion." And there has always been a lot of intolerant idjits in a lot of branches of any religion.

Evangelical cristians are some really REALLY messed up people. Those are the same people who home school their children because they think the schools are run by devil worshipers. If you can track down the movie "jesus camp" and you will see the the sick brainwashing they do to their children.
