LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Black Sabbath boys are back, as the new band Heaven and Hell.
Guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, drummer Bill Ward and singer Ronnie James Dio - former members of British metal supergroup Black Sabbath - are forming the band named after their 1980 hit, according to their publicist. They plan to launch an international tour next year.
"The fans have been wanting to see this for years and years. Now was just the time," publicist Maureen O'Connor said Wednesday.
Since its formation in 1969, Black Sabbath has undergone numerous member changes and reunions.
Dio, who replaced original Sabbath vocalist Ozzy Osbourne as part of the band's early '80s lineup, has been recording new songs with Iommi in England, O'Connor said.
Ok thats the official blurb. But Black Sabbath reunions are about as common as other bands tour schedules so is this really news. Also what was the title of the 1980's ht that they are naming themselves after? Theres more non-information than actual information in this blurb.
Independant Web FU tells us the 1980 album was "Heaven and Hell", I'm left wondering why they don't use Black Sabbath but rather suspect that it's because they sold the rights to that name in a money grab at some point. I may just be being Cynical again.
In other news...
Madonna is in the news again. Ok the aging shock the mundanes for attention diva being in the news isn't news. Personally I'm hoping that the media attention is accidental as using the adoption of a child for media fodder would be an all time low in an industry that has some fairly spectacular all time lows. But then any time you turn an art into an Industry your going to get bucket loads of Drama so again... What else is new.
